My name is Jayne Smith and I'm a meteorologist with 2 years of experience in front of the camera. My interest in weather goes back even further.

I graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a B.A. in meteorology. While in college, I worked as an intern for WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut and News12 Westchester in Yonkers, New York, as well as forecasting at the University's weather center.

My mom says I could say "rain" and "snow" before I could complete a sentence. I didn't always want to be a meteorologist, though. For a while, I dreamed of being a professional dancer.

I've had over 15 years of ballet training, 8 years of modern and jazz, and I've dabbled in ballroom and tap. By the time I was ready to leave high school, my main focus turned back to meteorology, but you can still catch me doing pirouettes or moonwalking from time to time.

I got my first on-air position as weekend meteorologist and general assignment reporter at KXMB-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota. After spending two years in the Flickertail State, it was off to Colorado Springs, Colorado to join the KRDO-TV weather team as weekend meteorologist.

I am currently in the process of obtaining my Certification in Broadcast Meteorology from the American Meteorological Society and am seeking a full-time meteorologist position.
